Day 27

This morning my mom left, so sad.
She came back during my kidney stone episode and stayed for a full 2 weeks.
It was awesome.
I can't be too upset though, she is coming back in a week with my dad. I already can't wait.

Although I find my hospital room rather pleasant, it has been so nice to get out once in a while.

My doctors have given me permission to go for a wheelchair ride for 30 minutes a day.
It sure is heavenly.
We stroll down and get a hot chocolate and then head outside.
It's amazing what a little sunshine can do for my mood.

Lucky for me, Zack knows all the great outdoor places at the hospital.
He took us up to the Huntsman Cancer Center's roof top deck. It felt so good to lay in the sun for a while...I almost thought I was on a mini vacation.

I've found that keeping a daily routine is good for my mental health.
Every morning I eat, shower, and then jump back in bed to get ready.
I have gotten really good at doing my make-up from a compact and my hair from a sitting/laying position.

This is pretty much as good as it gets.
Wet hair put in a bun, a little make-up, and some pearls.
It may not be fabulous but it helps me feel a little more "normal".

Tomorrow marks 28 weeks and 4 weeks on bed rest.
High-five to baby boy Oakey for cooperating so well.
Love him already.

  1. 28 weeks!?! That's incredible! You look great...seriously. Love.

  2. Congrats on 28 weeks tomorrow! I remember being on bedrest and 28 weeks was all the talk. I made it to 25.1 which was lots better than 22.6 when I got admitted. I thought I was going to go crazy and I was only there for two weeks. You are seriously amazing. So glad little boy is staying where he should be.

    1. Thanks Teresa! I am also a mom of a 24/5 preemie, so I know all about those little micro-preemies. I am thrilled to be at 28 weeks, when I was first admitted it seemed like 28 weeks was an impossible milestone to reach, I can't believe we are already here. I think the first two weeks of bed rest are the hardest, it surprisingly gets easier after that.

  3. Congrats on 28 weeks! Looks like you've gotten a good routine down

  4. I agree, you look great, and so glad he's staying put so far! And I'm loving those moccasins you have - please share where you got them!

    1. Thanks! I got the moccasins at Aldo. They are so comfy and pretty much my favorite shoes!

  5. YESSSSSSSSSSS. Fist pumping for you!

  6. Hooray for you!! Stay strong-I'm sure your days just seem to run together.

  7. Congrats on 28 weeks!! I'm 25 weeks along with my first (a girl!) and have enjoyed reading your blog along the way. And, your little girl is adorable!!

I also love your moccasins so thanks for sharing where you got them. :)

  8. I did the bed rest thing at University Hospital 4 years ago before the birth of our twin boys. It's a crazy, boring roller coaster ride. :) Sounds like you might be at University too?? I'm guessing because you mentioned Huntsman and my husband would take me to Huntsman's Bistro for a yummy break. So delicious...

Hang in there! And, you probably know Jody Jacobs (a social worker with antepartum moms) and Becky Hatfield (Parent-to-Parent Coordinator). They are angels. I hope you've met them.

Sending hope and hugs your way.

    1. So nice to hear from a bed rest expert! Yes, I am at the University Hospital and I do know those wonderful ladies! I've only been here for 5 weeks so far, but I am starting to learn the ropes a little :) Hopefully I will have at least a couple more weeks here...although I may go crazy!
